America!

We're lucky to be in a town near our nation's capital, so I made sure to celebrate all things AMERICAN with a unit on America.  We learned about our nation's history, symbols, pledge, constitution, currency, and presidents.  And we had lots of fun in the process :)

Here is our American symbols tree map.  We recorded three facts about each symbol, then the children copied the facts into their American Symbols book.  We also made art work of each symbol (which I forgot to take pictures of!)

I used an American unit from Teachers Pay Teachers, but I added the Washington Monument as a symbol since it is one familiar to the children of this area.

Here is our Venn Diagram of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln:

We are proud of our country and proud to be Americans!
