A glimpse into my kinderworld...

Here are a few pictures from this past week of my kindergarten room.  I am the only full-day kindergarten at Open Arms Christian Child Development Center at Our Savior's Way Lutheran Church.  That's a mouth-full! :)  I love my job and I love teaching the children reading, writing, arithmetic, and faith!

Our "Love Bugs" glyphs.  I had a whole bulletin board of them and started taking them down before I remembered to take a picture!

Here is an idea from Pinterest.  I traced and cut out the children's hands, then they added the hearts to make them look like trees.  It was their Valentine gift to their parents.

Another Pinterest idea :)  We completed the words to John 3:16 using Valentine hearts that spell out Valentine vertically.  The Pinterest picture used candy stickers--I added the element of "yum" and used actual hearts.  We gobbled some down in the process, of course!

Here are some beautiful heart bird mobiles we made and hung from our ceiling.  They were quite a "tweet" to have in our room ;)

Doc board for January: We conducted lots of fun science experiments using water and household items.

Our Cat in the Hat glyphs and Thing 1 characters.  We had SO much fun celebrating Dr. Seuss and reading some of his beloved books.

I'm a big fan of kindergarten teacher Deanna Jump and the units she posts on Teachers Pay Teachers.  Here was one of her ideas: She created reading technique cards and booklets using beanie babies.  Stretchy the Snake stretches out words while Skippy the Frog skips words and comes back to them.  I love the techniques, and I love that I got to collect some beanie babies to make learning to read more fun for the kids!

So there's my brief picture tour of some things we did this past week and month in my class.  Next week we start learning about pond life, so I'll be sure to have some more exciting things to share from Ms. Laura's kindergarten :)
